He helped hand Everton a major boost…
Frank Lampard confirmed that he would be sending Mason Mount a text after Chelsea gave Everton a helping hand on Wednesday night.
Mount scored one of Chelsea’s goals that helped easily defeat Leeds on Wednesday, leaving Jesse March’s side in the relegation zone.
Everton, on the other hand, also had a disappointing night, with Lampard’s team drawing with an already relegated Watford side.
However, while this may not have been the result Everton hoped for, Leeds’ defeat meant that overall it was a good night for Lampard and his men.
Speaking after the game, Lampard said that he owed Mount a message of thanks, describing him as a “fantastic player”.

He said: “I’ll send him [Mason Mount] a message later of thanks.
“Those things are out of your hands but Mason’s a fantastic player and I’m pleased for him that he’s getting those numbers because he is a player of such a high level and those numbers reflect it.
“It’s brilliant for him and Chelsea did us a favour getting that result, but we have to make sure we do our own thing to get this over the line.”
Lampard and Mount have always seemed to have a close relationship, with the former giving the England international his first chance at Chelsea.
When results turned sour for Lampard at Chelsea, many questioned why Mount seemed to be a guaranteed starter in the team, but the manager stuck with his guns and put his faith in the young midfielder.

Everton now have two home games to come against Brentford and Crystal Palace, knowing that a win in either will likely see them safe for another year.
Lampard is already planning for next season too, with reports suggesting Everton are planning on replacing Jordan Pickford with Ireland international Gavin Bazunu. More on that here.
