Christian Eriksen lifts the lid on his future

Most teams in the world would take him…

Christian Eriksen returned to football with Brentford halfway through the Premier League season, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that he played a major role in keeping them up.

Brentford never looked like they were going to be relegated, but they were definitely in the conversation until Eriksen’s arrival.

His performances have been nothing short of outstanding, considering less than 12 months ago he suffered a cardiac arrest in a Euro 2020 match.

Doctors said that Eriksen was lucky to be alive, which makes it all the more incredible that he has been one of the better players in the Premier League in 2022.

His contract at Brentford is up at the end of the season, and unsurprisingly, a number of clubs are going to be interested in bringing in the Dane on a free transfer.

The Danish international spoke recently about his future, and who he may look to sign for over the summer, with Brentford reportedly on his mind.

He said: “I’ve been thinking about it but I don’t know what the future holds. It will be a decision from a sports perspective and also a family perspective.

“I haven’t made up my mind 100% but I do have an idea. But where it’s going to be, I don’t know. Brentford is definitely in the category for sure.”

Christian Eriksen’s future

Eriksen has been heavily linked with Manchester United, among other clubs, but his Brentford boss Thomas Frank recently urged the player to remain at the club.

Frank said: “Either he signs with us and everyone is going to be happy and the fans will build a statue of him outside the stadium in two or three years’ time, or he goes to a bigger level and fans will applaud him and we will all say, ‘Thank you for this time, go forward'”.
