“It’s a f***ing disaster of monstrous proportions.”

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were both on commentary duty on the last day of the season, with the pair of them working on separate games.

Neville was at the Etihad, where he watched Manchester City win the league, while Carragher watched his former club almost do the unthinkable and win it at Anfield, which would have ensured at least a treble for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

It was clear that Neville would have much rather see City win the league, to avoid the potential of a quadruple for Liverpool, and his half-time texts to Carragher reflect as such.

At half-time at the Etihad City were a goal down, and it was starting to feel like something special was going to happen, from a Liverpool perspective.

Neville on the other hand was having a nightmare…

“F***ing City, you do your job, you’ll win this. It’s a f***ing disaster of monstrous proportions.

The final text that Carragher read out seemed to imply Neville wouldn’t be sticking around if Liverpool managed to win the league, writing: “I’m f***ing off if you win this!”

Unfortunately for us, the viewer, we didn’t get a chance to see what Neville may have sent Carragher when he saw Aston Villa double their lead against City.

Elsewhere in the same episode of The Overlap, Neville said that it would be unthinkable to see Liverpool win the quadruple.

Luckily for Neville, the best Liverpool can do now is a cup treble, which would also be an incredible achievement, but no English side has ever done it before.

United won a treble, including a league title, back in 1999, something which Neville was very quick to point out, moments after the Premier League season ended.
