Irish players to take part in biggest game of Championship season tonight

The most important game of the season, where the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Bournemouth are taking on Nottingham Forest in a Championship game on Tuesday night, where the stakes really couldn’t get any higher.

Fulham have already won the league and gained promotion to the Premier League, while either Forest or Bournemouth can still grab second place in the Championship, and thus avoid the dreaded playoff.

Right now, Bournemouth are in the better position. They are in second place on 82 points, three points ahead of Forest who are in third place.

A win for Bournemouth tonight would promote them, as they would be six clear of Forest going into the final day of the season. However, Forest winning would put them ahead of Scott Parker’s team, and they would go into the last day of the season knowing that they would just need to better Bournemouth’s result on the final matchday and they would be in the Premier League.

And to make matters even more exciting, Bournemouth’s goal difference is 33, compared to Forest’s 34. So if Forest win tonight, and both sides win on the last day of the season next weekend, it could possibly come down to who wins their last game of the season by more.

Mark Travers will be starting in goal for Bournemouth, and will need to be at his best to keep an exciting Forest attack out. Robbie Brady will also likely be in the squad, and could well feature from the bench.

Travers narrowly missed out on making the team of the season, but will feel as though he deserves to be playing Premier League football next year after what has been a magnificent individual campaign.

The big game kicks off at 7pm, and will be available to watch on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event.
