Vote for your Kenny’s Kids Player of the Weekend
Every Sunday on Kenny’s Kids we have a look at the top three Irish performers from the weekend. Using stats, reports, fan reaction and the occasional eye-test, we find which Irish players impressed the most and provide you with all the details.
These are the three players who caught the eye the most this week….
Shane Duffy (Brighton)
Big Shane Duffy captained Brighton away to Southampton on Saturday afternoon and proved as inspirational as ever.
Although the Seagulls conceded a first half Armando Broja goal, they managed to hold firm thereafter until under-fire striker Neil Maupay popped up in the dying moments to salvage a last-gasp point.
Duffy was as solid as you would expect the back, making five clearances and recovering possesion six times. The Derryman also completed 85% of his passes as he continues to impress with his technical capabilites this campaign.

Taylor Gardner Hickman (West Brom)
West Brom teenager Taylor Gardner-Hickman has his eyes firmly set on an Irish passport and won the Man of the Match award in his side’s victory over Coventry on Saturday morning.
Gardner-Hickman played in midfield for the Baggies in the 2-1 win but has also appeared at right-wing-back in the last month or so. In the new position he completed four dribbles, made four interceptions, three clearances and recovered possesion seventeen times.
West Brom fans have quickly warmed to the youngster and all things going well, we will see him bring his energy to the Ireland under-21 fold as soon as March.

Darragh Lenihan (Blackburn)
Ireland are blessed with centre-backs and it really says a lot when a player who has been named in the Championship Team of the Week four times this season can’t get a look in.
27-year-old Lenihan is the captain at Blackburn Rovers and he put in yet another massive performance at the weekend to help overcome Lancashire rivals Preston North End 1-0.
Lenihan won no less than fifteen defensive duals. Twelve of his battles were aerial duals but he also made two interceptions and four clearances.
His passing was less spectacular as he hit twenty long-balls up the pitch (31% pass success in total) but his manager Tony Mowbray won’t mind one bit as they move up to fouth in the league table.
