UCD have been awarded a 3-0 victory over Bohemians after it was found that the Gypsies “broke FAI rules” in Monday’s game.
Bohemians were found to have fielded an ineligible player in the match at the UCD Bowl, which finished 1-0 to the home side. Danny Mandroiu played in the game but was due to serve a suspension. As such, the FAI have awarded UCD a 3-0 win and fined Bohs.
On Thursday afternoon, the association released a statement on the situation, which reads:
“UCD AFC have been awarded a 3-0 victory over Bohemians after it was found that Bohemians fielded an ineligible player in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division fixture.
“The fixture, which took place on Monday, July 15, saw UCD claim a 1-0 victory thanks to Yoyo Mahdy’s goal.
“However, an FAI Disciplinary Committee has found that Bohemians played an ineligible player, Daniel Mandroiu, who was due to serve a suspension in the fixture.
“In accordance with the FAI rules, UCD have been awarded a 3-0 victory and a fine has been imposed on Bohemians.”
There were dramatic scenes at the final whistle of Monday’s match after UCD goalkeeper Conor Kearns celebrated in front of the travelling Bohemians supporters.
