Anthony Martial has rejected the chance to join Lyon on loan from Manchester United, according to L'Équipe.

Martial could find his playing time reduced at the Red Devils reduced following the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, but is seemingly keen to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place in the starting XI.

According to The Athletic, Man United had no intention of selling Martial or Edinson Cavani on deadline day.

The French forward, 25, played for Lyon between 2009 and 2013, before joining AS Monaco, but only made three first team appearances for the club.

Martial has been with Man United since 2015. He has scored 78 goals in 261 appearances for the club.

Manchester United are prepared to listen to offers for Daniel James, according to The Athletic.

Leeds United and Brighton and Hove Albion are reportedly interested in the Welsh winger, who started two of Man United's opening three Premier League games of the season.

The Red Devils value James at £20m and are also prepared to let him leave on loan. Leeds maintain a long-term interest in the winger and almost signed him in January 2019 from Swansea City,

After Sunday's match between Man United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested that some players in his squad may have to leave following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

“There has been a couple of enquiries for some of our players. With the signing of Cristiano we might give less playing time to a few. Dan is a Man United player at the moment.”

Cristiano Ronaldo completed a medical in Lisbon over the weekend ahead of his return to Manchester United and he has agreed on personal terms on a two-year contract with the Premier League club, Sky Sports reported on Monday.

United said last week they had agreed a deal to re-sign Ronaldo from Juventus after he told the Serie A club he had no intention of staying, but the transfer was still subject to the agreement of personal terms and a medical.

The clubs have yet to confirm the Portugal forward's transfer. The Premier League's summer transfer window closes on Tuesday.

Sky reported the fee agreed for the 36-year-old Portuguese was around €15m plus €8 in add-ons.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was relishing Ronaldo's return and said on Sunday that the announcement would be made once the paperwork was done.

With the league paused for the international break, Ronaldo is expected to play his first game when United host Newcastle United at Old Trafford on September 11.

Ronaldo won eight major trophies at United from 2003-2009, and the Ballon d'Or as the world's best player in 2008, before sealing a then-world record £80m move to Real Madrid.

Manchester City have rejected the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, according to The Times.

Ronaldo's agent has reportedly been trying to get him a move to the Premier League but has been unsuccessful so far.

The Portugal captain was “particularly interested” in joining Man City – despite his legendary status at Manchester United, where he played for six years and won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Balon d'Or.

Man City are said to have rejected the chance to sign Ronaldo, and are only interested in adding Harry Kane this summer.

Ronaldo, 36, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to give Paul Pogba a contract worth €600,000 a week, according to The Independent.

Pogba has one year left on his contract with Manchester United. He is reportedly keen to leave the club for a second time, after departing on a free transfer for Juventus in 2012.

PSG want the France midfielder, 28, to see out his contract and join them on a free transfer next summer.

Pogba reportedly prefers a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid, but both are experiencing financial difficulties and are unlikely to be able to match PSG's offer.

Pogba is free to speak to non-English clubs from January.
