According to Sky Sports, a season-long loan deal has been agreed by Manchester United for Radamel Falcao. The Colombian now looks set to make a move away from Ligue 1 side, Monaco to play in the Premier League.
This signing is set to grab all the attention today in a stunning turnaround. United are coming in at the last moment to steal an Arsenal and Manchester City target right from under their noses.
The Colombian international who missed out on last summer’s World Cup through injury has been the subject of much debate as to where he would go to, with rumours circulating all summer.
With Falcao set to sign it means the competition for places has just risen enormously and it also makes United look an even more potent attacking threat for the rest of the campaign.
Falcao has started this season as he left off last term, scoring two goals in three games so far. Last season he managed nine goals in 17 games in what was a season ended abruptly through injury.
For United, this signals a real sign of intent ahead of a season where the Manchester club have a lot of pride to regain following a less than impressive beginning to the season. Louis Van Gaal must now make the best of the signings he has brought in. There is added pressure on the manager’s shoulders now when one considers the amount of money that has been spent thus far.
Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and now what looks like Falcao have a responsibility to prove their worth in the Premier League and restore United’s reputation as trophy winners this season.
