The Best Left Leg In The World Is Returning To The Premier League

Okay, so maybe we’re exaggerating a little bit, but the return of cult hero Alessandro Diamanti to the Premier League is really whetting our footballing appetites ahead of the season openers this weekend.

Diamanti is on the brink of sealing a move to Watford and fans of the Premier League newcomers must be looking forward to some crackers. The old adage ‘a scorer of great goals, but not a great goalscorer’ certainly rings true when it come to our good ol’ friend Alessandro.

For those living under a rock for the last ten to fifteen years, Diamanti is one of those rare players that has carved out a career in professional football with the use of just one appendage; his left leg.

A footballing Nicolas Cage, Diamanti has built up a cult following despite his overall skill level being far from premium. Diamanti’s ability to wow crowds with his unstoppable left peg and smash the ball into the top corner is the footballing equivalent of Cage’s ability to wow crowds by simply uttering the words; “Put the bunny back in the box.”

If we look at the bunny as a metaphor for a football, it’s clear that Diamanti knows better than most how to put it back in the box.

Diamanti’s career has seen him travel the world, continuing to attract fans wherever he goes. This highlight reel from his Bologna days show just how clinical the Italian is from range.

However, Premier League fans will remember him from his days at Upton Park donning the West Ham jersey. Diamanti played 28 times for the Hammers, putting the bunny back in its box on seven occasions.

Clinical from all forms of set pieces, Diamanti had West Ham fans blowing bubbles whenever he stood in front of the placed ball.

And again, this time against Liverpool.

Here’s a more candid Diamanti, strutting his skills in Bologna training. He absolutely loves the dink over the keeper. Confidence: 100.

Don’t be surprised to see 32-year-old ‘Alino’ smashing a few into the top corner this season for the Hornets.

Disclaimer: Diamanti may not actually have the best left leg in the world. We just love him.
