Irish underage star Troy Parrott has signed his first contract with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
He will be a part of Tottenham’s Under 18s side for the upcoming campaign after the London club announced the new additions on their website.
Parrott who is just 16 years of age was one of the standout players in the Irish U17s run to the semi-final of the European Championships.
The former Belvedere player scored three goals in the competition and has already shown that he possesses a certain guile and skill that many Irish midfielders are so evidently lacking.
Parrott won the FAI Under 15s player of the year a couple of years ago and has been compared on many occasions to fellow Belvedere alum Wes Hoolahan.
The young star outlined in an interview with the Irish Independent however that he and Wes do not play the same style of football although he admits that the Norwich City midfielder is a “brilliant player”
“Although I’d say our styles aren’t similar, Wes is a brilliant player. Whether I was out on the road or in the local park with my mates, I enjoyed having the ball at my feet. My mother couldn’t get me in off the street every day.”
