Granit Xhaka Cursed At Arsenal Fans As He Was Booed Off In Crystal Palace Draw

Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka was far from pleased as he was substituted after his side threw away a two-nil lead to draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Gunners were looking to bounce back from Monday’s 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United and made the perfect start as they went 2-0 up inside ten minutes thanks to goals from Sokratis and David Luiz.

Palace hit back however through Luka Milivojevic and Jordan Ayew to level the score early in the second half as Arsenal struggled to contain their opponents.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has received some criticism this season following their inconsistent displays in the league and with half an hour left in the game the Spaniard decided to make an attacking change bringing Xhaka off for their young attacker Bukayo Saka.

As Xhaka went to exit the field he was met with a chorus of boos by the Arsenal faithful which he did not take too kindly to, appearing to mouth “f**k off” to the fans and waving his arms in the air.

The Swiss midfielder then removed his shirt before heading straight down the tunnel in what was an unpleasant incident at the Emirates.

The afternoon got no better for The Gunners as they saw what they thought was a late winner from Sokratis chalked off by VAR after a foul in the build-up from Callum Chambers.

Xhaka was handed the captain’s armband at the start of the campaign after a player’s vote but like Emery he has been met with criticism from certain sections of the Arsenal fanbase this season.

The Gunners now sit fifth in the Premier League table four points off the top four while the draw leaves Palace just a point behind Arsenal in sixth.
