Requested members of the FAI will appear in front of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport this morning.
Among those at the meeting will be current Executive Vice President and former Chief Executive John Delaney who will come under scrutiny following the €100,000 bridging loan he gave to the FAI in April 2017.
The meeting began at 9:00 am but the first hour is in private. The open session is expected to start at 10:00am.
Sport Ireland confirmed on Tuesday that they would be withholding future funding to the FAI and outlined that they will only consider reinstating it “once all ongoing reports commissioned by the FAI have been completed and the recommendations adopted.”
In response FAI President Donal Conway released a statement explaining that the suspending of funding was “unfortunate” and that the organisation is “keen to restore trust and confidence and rebuild the relationship with Sport Ireland as soon as possible.”
