Twitter Awash With Praise For Rice As He Shines Again For Hammers

West Ham put in an excellent performance to earn a hard-fought 0-0 draw against table-topping Chelsea at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Hot off the heels of their first victory of the season over Everton last week, The Hammers looked solid against The Blues in a game that they arguably would’ve won had it not been for Andriy Yarmolenko’s glaring miss in the second half.

Michail Antonio put in an excellent shift up top in the absence of star striker Marko Arnautovic and Lukasz Fabianski in the West Ham goal made some crucial saves, but for the second week in a row, it was 19-year old midfielder Declan Rice who arguably stole the show.

Following the display, Rice has been lauded on Twitter by many.

Rice’s quality performance has also led to many West Ham fans on Twitter calling for the club to reward him with a new contract that the young man, they feel, clearly deserves

Last week’s performance in the win against Everton along with his display against Chelsea have proven that Rice has quality in abundance but it is worrying from an Irish perspective.

The more attention the West Ham man garners, the more likely it could be that his head is turned towards an England team that, should he keep playing the way he is, he will surely break into sooner rather than later.

A tremendous start to the league season for the ever-improving Rice as Irish fans continue to hope that the 19-year old’s head does not get turned by the bright lights of the English international setup.
