Troy Parrott Named On Spurs Bench For Clash With Bayern Munich

17-year-old Irish striker Troy Parrott has been named on the Tottenham bench ahead of their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

Should Parrott come on in Munich it will represent only the fourth appearance of his senior career and comes off the back of Spurs boss Jose Mourinho bringing him off the bench for his Premier League debut against West Ham on Saturday.

The Irish striker made his debut for the North London club in their League Cup defeat to Colchester in September before being handed a senior international cap for the Boys in Green against New Zealand in November.

Tottenham have of course already secured qualification to the last 16 of the Champions League and cannot finish any higher or any lower than their 2nd place spot regardless of tonight’s result.

Mourinho though will be hoping his Spurs side can fare better against the German champions away from home than they did in London, losing 7-2 when the sides met in October.

Should Parrott come off the bench he would become the first Irish teenager to feature in the Champions League since Cillian Sheridan for Celtic against Manchester United in 2008.

He would also become the youngest Irish player to feature in the group stages of the competition.

Parrott featuring in the first team squad once again is another indication of just how highly he is rated by Mourinho who has clearly been impressed by the 17-year-old in his brief Spurs tenure so far.
