Troy Parrott Grabs Four Goals For Spurs In UEFA Youth League

Irish Under-21 striker Troy Parrott scored four goals for Tottenham’s Under-19s in their UEFA Youth League clash against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday afternoon.

Parrott had previously found the net for Spurs in their draw over Olympiakos and grabbed an assist in their defeat to Bayern Munich in this season’s European competition.

Ryan Mason’s side were looking for their first win of the tournament and after J’Neil Bennett opened the scoring for Spurs early, it was Parrott’s time to shine.

The 17-year-old grabbed his side’s second thanks to a tremendous finish after some lovely movement gave him space free of the Red Star defender and allowed him to lash the ball into the back of the net.

Parrott recently featured for Stephen Kenny’s Irish Under-21 side, however, the former Belvedere man saw red in the draw against Italy and subsequently missed the defeat to Iceland.

That minor setback doesn’t appear to have affected him though as he found his second of the game almost immediately after his first.

He ran onto a long-ball over the top and after it was tamely headed back to the Red Star keeper, Parrott challenged for it and won the 50-50 before slotting the ball into the empty net.

Red Star grabbed a goal back just before the break before Max Robson made it 4-1 early in the second half only for Spurs’ opponents to reduce the deficit almost immediately after.

The 17-year-old however completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot before grabbing a fourth late in the game to round off a stunning performance as Spurs ran out 9-2 winners.

Parrott isn’t the only Irish underage international in action for Tottenham with recent Under-19 debutant Jamie Bowden captaining the side and Dublin born defender Dennis Cirkin also featuring.
