Ireland striker Shane Long has given Southampton a surprise lead against Liverpool as they continue to fight against the drop and look to put a dent in Klopp’s side’s title hopes.
The 32-year-old had only scored once in 19 appearances this season, a goal in the 2-1 victory over Leicester City in January, but doubled his tally when he found himself free in the Liverpool box.
Long showed great anticipation in the area and a cool head in front of goal as he gave the home side a surprise lead at St Mary’s.
"Van Dijk and company couldn't cope…"

A victory for Southampton would be a massive step towards Premier League safety and would put them on 36 points with just six games of the season remaining.
Liverpool, on the other hand, know that they must pick up three points if they are to reclaim the top spot from Manchester City who defeated Cardiff City in midweek.
The goal will also come as a welcome sight for Irish fans, who will be hoping that Long’s goal can kickstart an upturn in form for the striker.
