A new survey has revealed the most valuable players in the five major European Leagues with PSG’s French wonderkid Kylian Mbappé topping the charts.
The survey was conducted by The CIES Football Observatory which takes into account a wide array of variables such as age, contract, position, minutes, goals, international status and team results, and also featured a host of Premier League players in the top ten.
Mbappé is valued at €252 million after another standout season with PSG which saw him score 33 goals in just 29 Ligue 1 games as well as starring in France’s World Cup victory in the summer.
Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah sits in second at €219.6 million after guiding the Merseysiders to their sixth European Cup while Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling is third valued at €207.8 million.
Six of the top ten are Premier League players with Borussia Dortmund’s prospect Jadon Sancho, Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Mbappé rounding it out.
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is the most valuable defender at €130.2 million and 13th on the list ahead of his teammate Virgil Van Dijk who is valued at €112.1 million in 22nd.
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is the highest placed midfielder on the list in 16th with the likes of Bernardo Silva and Phillipe Coutinho classed as attacking players by CIES.
No Irish players are included in the top 100 however former Irish international and current England star Declan Rice is valued at €68.7 million as he comes in 71st on the list.
