Preston and Irish international Sean Maguire is set to miss up to 8 weeks of the new championship season after suffering another injury setback.
North End manager Alex Neill confirmed the injury in a press conference after Maguire was taken off in their previous preseason game.
“Sean was taken off as a precaution, we didn’t think much of it. Because of his history, we got him scanned and it’s come back a lot worse than what we thought. We will be missing for the best part of a couple of months”
Neill went on to outline that Maguire had been feeling better than ever physically and that this injury set back is a big blow for both himself and the club.
“It’s really bad luck, he was feeling the best he’s ever felt physically and now this has happened which is a huge blow for us and the club.”
Maguire had been in very good form for the Championship side during the summer, grabbing a hattrick and a brace in back to back games in mid-July.
The injury is disappointing for Maguire who despite having an impressive debut season, scoring nine goals in 17 games for Preston, he did miss a chunk of the campaign with an injury.
Neill finished by praising the Irish striker’s physical and mental strength saying that he would “be back as soon as he can”
