Manchester City and Manchester United are set to do battle for France and PSG striker Kylian Mbappé according to The Mirror Online.
The 19-year-old is currently on loan at French champions PSG and had been expected to sign on a permanent deal worth £166m this summer.
The Mirror is reporting that due to PSG’s £198m spend on Brazilian striker Neymar last summer, they are being investigated over financial fair play and could face expulsion from the Champions League as well as being hit with huge fines if found guilty.
This could lead to the French club pulling the plug on the proposed deal with Manchester United and Manchester City reportedly very interested in snapping Mbappé up.
United would be prepared to sacrifice unsettled winger Anthony Martial in part exchange, a player they value at around £80m, and Mourinho has reportedly already made contact with Monaco expressing his interest in Mbappé.
City are also set to be keen on his signature with Pep Guardiola looking to bring a new striker into the club as they look to build upon their dominant title-winning campaign last season.
Interestingly, Paddy Power have the blue half of Manchester as 6/1 favourites to sign Mbappé with United all the way out at 50/1.
Mbappé is currently starring for France in the World Cup and would be a massive coup for the Premier League should either English side win the race for his signature.
