Liverpool have made a bid of €180 million for Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish sports publication reported that Liverpool are keen on the Madrid man as they continue their search for a replacement for Phillipe Coutinho who left for Barcelona in January.
Real Madrid reportedly have the offer on the table, but are expected to turn it down as it does not meet their valuation of the Spanish international.
Asensio is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2023 with a €700 million buyout clause, but would be a huge signing for Klopp’s side if they could attract him to Anfield.
Liverpool have already completed the signing of midfielder Fabinho from Monaco and have Naby Keita arriving from RB Leipzig but there attempt to bring in Nabil Fekir from Lyon broke down earlier this month.
There had been rumours that the Anfield club would go back to try for Fekir again but their pursuit of Asensio could indicate that they are exploring other options in the attacking midfield position.
