Norwich City leapfrogged Leeds United at the top of the Championship table following a 1-3 victory at Elland Road.
The home side dominated possession in the first five minutes but it was Norwich who took the lead against the run of play when Mario Vrancic’s freekick took a deflection off Adam Forshaw in the Leeds wall and left Casilla scrambling.
The goal did not dampen Bielsa’s men however as they continued to dominate possession and play on the front foot, but clear cut chances were few and far between with Norwich’s disciplined young defence only allowing Leeds the odd shot from distance.
As the half wore on Leeds grew continually impatient and conceded the second in almost comical fashion as Forshaw lost possession in a dangerous area for the home side and after Vrancic’s shot was blocked by Liam Cooper, the ball fell kindly to Teemu Pukki who tapped it into the empty net.
Almost immediately after, Leeds showed the visitors they were still in a game when striker Kemar Roofe danced past the Norwich defence only to see his strike saved well by Tim Krul, the first real stop the Dutchman had to make.
As the first half came to a close Leeds had the ball in the net through Luke Ayling but the goal was ruled out for a foul on the Norwich keeper.
In the second half, Leeds brought on Barry Douglas and young prospect Jack Clarke but started slowly and grew frustrated with no way past the dogged Norwich defence.
Leeds United pushed and pushed but the breakthrough simply would not come as Norwich grew ever more confident with time running out.
They sealed the victory with ten minutes to go when Vrancic’s shot from inside the area squirmed past Casilla and into the net.
The home side grabbed a late consolation but it was too little too late as Norwich leapfrog Leeds United at the top of the Championship thanks to a 3-1 win at Elland Road.
