Champions League winners Liverpool featured heavily in former Real Madrid and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s team of the tournament as he selected his best XI from the European season past.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were victorious in Saturday’s all English clash with Tottenham, defeating the North London club by 2-0 thanks to goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi.
Mourinho picked his team of the season for beIN sport with Liverpool having six inclusions, while his former side Manchester United, unsurprisingly, had none.
The back four is also heavily skewed towards Merseyside, with fullbacks Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson both included, while Virgil Van Dijk lines up at centre-half along with Ajax captain Matthijs De Ligt who helped his side to the last four of the competition.
The midfield three is dominated by the Dutch side with the pairing of Donny Van de Beek and Frenkie De Jong included alongside Spurs’ Christian Eriksen.
Up front, the Reds again feature with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, while Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is the Catalan giants’ lone representative after they fell short of the final in dramatic circumstances.
Mourinho had led Manchester United through the group stages of the competition but left the club before their last 16 clash with PSG.
