Irish Defender Egan On Verge Of Move To Sheffield United

Irish defender John Egan is reportedly close to signing for Championship side Sheffield United from Brentford.

Sky Sports are reporting that Brentford have accepted a bid of around £4 million for the Irish international defender who was made club captain at Griffin Park at the start of last season.

Egan will return to Bramall Lane after making one appearance on loan at the Yorkshire club in 2012 when he was at Sunderland.

The 25-year-old has been capped twice for the Irish international team and would be an excellent addition to Chris Wilder’s side as they look to return to the Premier League for the first time since the 2006/2007 season.

Egan made 81 appearances for Gillingham from 2014-2016 before moving to Brentford.
