Irish international striker Graham Burke has joined League One side Gillingham on loan from Preston until the end of the season.
Burke joined Preston from Shamrock Rovers in June but has found regular first-team football hard to come by at Deepdale starting just six league games since his arrival.
The 25-year old will be desperate for first team football as he attempts to play his way into Mick McCarthy’s first Irish squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers in March.
The former Shamrock Rovers striker made his Ireland debut against France in the Summer and scored his first international goal against USA.
On securing the services of Burke, Gillingham manager Steve Lovell said: “Naturally Graham has had a lot of interest from other clubs so I’m delighted he has decided to join us here. He has proved he is a goal scorer; he has represented his country and has experience of playing at a higher level.
“This will add competition to our forward areas and we are looking forward to working with him.”
Burke added: “Once I spoke to the manager I decided that Gillingham was the right place for me to get some game time. I want to play; I want to score goals and will be doing everything I can to help the club move up the table.”
Gillingham currently sit 18th in League One and will be hoping that Burke’s goals can fire them up the table.
