Stephen Kenny has named his first squad as Ireland U21’s manager ahead of their opening European Championship qualifiers against Luxembourg.
The ex-Dundalk boss has named a 23-man squad ahead of his first qualifier in two weeks time, with 17-year old Spurs striker Troy Parrott fast-tracked to the side from the U19s.
The squad also includes seven League of Ireland players and one Irish League player while Norwich striker Adam Idah and Manchester City’s Gavin Bazunu are also included.
Darragh Leahy and Dan Mandroiu of Bohemians, Liam Scales and Neil Farrugia of UCD AFC, Waterford’s Zach Elbouzedi, Shamrock Rovers’ Trevor Clarke and St. Patrick’s Athletic midfielder Jamie Lennon make up the strong domestic contingent.
Manchester United’s Lee O’Connor and Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher are both also involved following the duo’s brief experience with the senior squad towards the backend of 2018.
Kenny has also opted for two players who are currently on loan in central Europe, with FC Dordrecht winger Simon Power and FC DAC 1904 midfielder Connor Ronan both involved.
