His final game in charge came in a thrilling 3-3 draw with bottom of the table Preston on Tuesday night, a match which Villa were 2-0 up in, before being pegged back by Alex Neil’s side.
The Aston Villa faithful had clearly had enough of Bruce at the club, with one fan throwing a cabbage at him before their draw with Preston.
After starting the season in good form, Villa have only one won game in their last ten in all competitions despite having Premier League quality in the likes of Tammy Abraham and Yannick Bolasie at their disposal.
Bruce joined Villa in October 2016 having left previous club Hull City a number of months earlier.
