Aiden McGeady’s fine run of form continued today with a cracking goal against Queens Park Rangers.
The winger has bagged some impressive goals in recent weeks during Preston’s post-Christmas purple patch. Irishmen Daryl Horgan and Greg Cunningham were also in action as Preston ran out 2-1 winners at Deepdale as Andy Boyle was left on the bench. Irish eligible Callum Robinson was also in action as Jordan Hugill netted the winner 20 minutes from time.
The win lifts Preston to eighth in the league and six points off the play-off spots. With a strong Irish contingent, North End are unbeaten in five games and will hope that their momentum will push them into the top six. The side currently residing in sixth place, Sheffield Wednesday, were defeated by Leeds earlier today narrowing the gap further.
McGeady’s form is coming at the right time for Ireland with the 30-year-old a possible candidate to feature in next months crunch tie with Wales. The tricky winger has seen huge improvements under Simon Grayson and will hope to force his way back into Martin O’Neill’s plans.
Aiden McGeady is having his own Goal of the Month competition!
