The Premier League community was thrown into shock following Diego Costa’s dropping after a bust-up with the Chelsea’s Management. Conte’s decision to drop the striker had no bearing on yesterday’s 3-0 result against champions Leicester with a replacement being reportedly lined up for the Spanish international.

The Express claim that Chelsea are targeting a £75million pounds move for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller.

Muller is said to be unhappy at the German giants and would present the ideal replacement should Costa decide to move on. The Mirror had suggested that the German international has become “unsettled” under Carlo Ancelloti since the Italian replaced Pep Guardiola as manager at the Allianz Arena.

This scenario has coincided with Costa’s bust up with Conte who reportadly shouted “Go to China” according to The Independent, fuelling speculation that the striker will depart Stamford Bridge for the riches of the Chinese Super League. Brazillian-born Costa is the Premier League’s top scorer with 14 goals and although Chelsea looked comfortable against Leicester City last night, the long-term effects could be detrimental to their title push unless a viable replacement is available should he leave.

With Michy Batshuayi and Dominic Solanke Chelsea’s only other recognised strikers, the Blues options would be bare up front in their attempts to expand on their nine point lead at the top. Patrick Bamford was recalled by Burnley but the striker has failed to score in two seasons while away on loan.

However Roman Abramovic has expressed his willingness to hold onto Costa despite the unrest he has caused according to The Mirror. The Chelsea owner would be reluctant to let one of his sides most prised possessions leave but the signing of Muller as a potential replacement could present more firepower in Chelsea’s half way tilt for the league title.
