Celtic have secured an unprecedented ‘treble treble’ following a 2-1 victory over Hearts in the Scottish Cup final.

However, Neil Lennon’s charges were made to work in order to secure history after falling 1-0 behind in the second half.

Hearts were indeed the better side for most of the match and deservedly went ahead on 52 minutes when Ryan Edwards slotting home to send the Hearts fans wild.

However, their lead lasted a little shy of ten minutes when Celtic were awarded a penalty which Odsonne Edouard fired home to bring the sides level.

History was completed nine minutes from time when Edouard raced clear before lifting the ball over the Hearts goalkeeper to score his second goal and etch his and Celtic’s names into the record books.

Following the win, Celtic captain, Scott Brown, described the victory as phenomenal. The club captain equalled Celtic legend, Jimmy Johnstone’s haul of 19 winners medals.

Brown described the win as Celtic’s most impressive treble-victory yet given the circumstances surrounding Brendan Rodgers departure earlier this year.

The Scotland international also made his feelings clear that Neil Lennon should be given the job now on a full-time basis.

Following the win, Neil Lennon paid tribute to his players who “put him through the ringer” in their quest to secure history.
