Neil Lennon Officially Signs With Celtic For Shot At Ten-In-A-Row

Neil Lennon has signed a 12-month rolling contract and will remain at Celtic following the club’s historic ‘treble treble‘ success last weekend.

The County Armagh man, who managed Celtic between 2010 and 2014, will now get his shot at securing a historic ten-in-a-row for the Glasgow club having previously started the run back in the 2011-2012 season.

Lennon took over in February after Brendan Rodgers departed the club for Leicester City.

John Kennedy will remain as Lennon’s assistant alongside former Irish international Damien Duff who will continue as the first-team coach.

During his first spell with the club, Lennon won three league titles and two Scottish Cups and returned this year to steer the club to further success in each and secure the club’s third successive treble.

“When I was asked to take over, I felt it was my duty to do so,” Lennon said.

Celtic will always be my club and I wanted to help finish the job which had been started.

“I want to be part of delivering more of these great achievements and I look forward to working with the players, the staff and the fans to make this happen.”

The former Bolton and Hibs manager continued:

“It is a massive honour.”

“I had always dreamed of returning to this role on a permanent basis and I am absolutely delighted to once again be part of one of the biggest and best clubs in the world – an institution which really does mean so much to me and one which has always been such a huge part of my life.

“In the space of just a few weeks, Trophy Day at Celtic Park and securing the Treble Treble at Hampden are two of my greatest days in football.”

Chief executive Peter Lawwell commented on Lennon’s appointment.

“Neil has a great record in identifying players, and he has already been working hard in this area as we look to strengthen the squad this summer.”
