Raheem Sterling Seals Domestic Treble With FA Cup Final Hat-Trick

Manchester City have secured a domestic treble following an emphatic 6-0 win over Watford at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

A Raheem Sterling hat-trick plus goals from David Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne eased Man City over the line for Pep Guardiola’s third trophy of the season.

Watford had a golden opportunity to go ahead after 12 minutes when Gerard Deulofeu played Roberto Pereyra through with a beautifully weighted first-time pass, however, Ederson’s positioning and timing was world-class snuffing out the danger and making the save.

Man City began to dominate proceedings with İlkay Gündoğan, in particular, standing out.

Watford had a penalty claim waved away on 23 minutes when Abdoulaye Doucoure’s shot was blocked down by Vincent Kompany. Doucoure was adamant it came off Kompany’s arm but Kevin Friend waved it off.

Man City broke the deadlock three minutes later.

David Silva won a header inside the box which played back into his path by the way of Raheem Sterling’s head. Silva managed just about to stay onside and hold off Kiko before finishing past Heurelho Gomes.

Gabriel Jesus doubled City’s lead 13 minutes later, or was it, Sterling?

An inch-perfect cross from Bernardo Silva found Jesus at the back post who delicately touched it past Gomes and towards the goal.

Raheem Sterling raced in and kicked the ball over the line for good measure, however, it looked as though the England international may have kicked the ball before it crossed the line.

Man City went in at half-time 2-0 to the good.

As the game passed the hour mark it was 3-0 and three trophies for Man City when substitute, Kevin De Bruyne, rounded Gomes and tucked it into the corner following a City breakaway attack from Sterling and Jesus.

It was soon four and there was no doubt as to whether it Jesus’ goal this time.

The Brazilian guided a long ball into the path of De Bruyne who slotted it back towards him before slotting home and putting the Premier League champions four goals in front.

The route was well and truly rounded off in the closing minutes as a quickfire Raheem Sterling double put the final nail in Watford’s coffin.

First, it was Bernardo Silva who whipped in a beautiful cross which was expertly finished by Sterling.

Before De Bruyne fed the England international once more.

Sterling had his effort initially saved by Gomes but reacted quickly to turn in the rebound.

The England international was subsequently awarded Man City’s second goal meaning he finished the game with an FA Cup final hat-trick.

6-0 and Man City are the 2019 FA Cup champions.

The result seals a domestic treble for Man City and their coach, Pep Guardiola.
