Adam Idah Double Leads Kenny’s Kids To Dominant Win

Stephen Kenny’s tenure as Ireland u21 manager got off to the perfect start earlier today with a 3-0 win over Luxembourg at Tallaght Stadium.

Fans will be buoyed by the dominant display put on by Kenny’s kids, especially after the poor start to life under Mick McCarthy for the senior side who laboured to a 1-0 victory over Gibraltar yesterday.

Those who tuned in to this afternoon’s game will have been left impressed by an Ireland side who played some beautiful attacking football.

Adam Idah proved the hero on the night for Ireland scoring twice. The Norwich City striker opened the scoring after 33 minutes with a bullet header following a corner from Neil Farrugia.

It took just five minutes for Ireland to double their lead.

The impressive Connor Ronan was the provider as he played Farrugia through with a perfectly weighted ball following a strong run from midfield.

The UCD man was left one-on-one with the Luxembourg goalkeeper and coolly dispatched the opportunity with a beautiful dink.

Ireland continued to dominate and nearly scored a third through captain, Jayson Molumby before Idah eventually grabbed his second and Ireland’s third after 67 minutes.

Ronan once again provided the assist with another driving run from midfield before putting it on a plate for the in-form striker.

Idah took one touch before firing past the goalkeeper and sealing a fantastic win on what must have been a very proud evening for Stephen Kenny in his first game as Ireland manager.

As for Idah, the recently turned 18-year-old comes into the Ireland squad with huge expectations following a youth career that has seen him score goals aplenty and while he hasn’t yet broken into the Norwich City side, no doubt he will be making an appearance in the near future.

There can be no doubting that tougher tests lie ahead for these young men, especially with Sweden and Italy waiting in the wings, however, fans will be happy at having seen an Ireland side play such expansive and attacking football.
