Martin O’Neill has indicated that Celtic are in the market for an “EXPLOSIVE” signing this window.
The Hoops have been slow in their business in January thus far.
Only two signings have arrived – on loans – in Tomas Cvancara and Julian Araujo.
Celtic fans have began to show their frustration and impatience with their side’s lack of incomings.
But their interim manager O’Neill insists that has not been for the want of trying.
Pundit Arena understands Celts have been looking at loan deals in this window with no guarantees over who will be the permanent boss in the summer.

However, now O’Neill has revealed that the board are willing to spend fees on players.
“Who is to say we might not spend money?” he said.
“There IS a willingness.
“I think we’ll get some in.”
On potentially green-lighting the signings of players the next boss won’t want, O’Neill explained his thoughts.
He added: “I’m sure Wilfried would have had a set of players that he was interested in.
“That might be a different set of players to me, and it might have been different to Brendan.
“So, from that viewpoint, I came in on January 5, and you try to work immediately on players.
“There’s a fairly decent chance – go to Ladbrokes and get money on it – I won’t be here next year.
“So from that viewpoint, I really don’t want to thrust somebody on to them that somebody might not like.
“What I’m trying to do, is put a player into this football club, that can do something for us now.
“That the new manager, whatever sort of ideas he has, will really like the player.
“Everybody has different ideas about things, but somebody who can go past people.
“I love players who can go past people.
“So we’re looking for something a bit EXPLOSIVE, and we can do that.
“I’m hoping that if we’re spending money on this particular player, and if it comes through, that the next manager stepping in, honestly, will say ‘Oh that’s good’, rather than thinking, ‘I’m not sure about this player.”
There has been plenty of speculation regarding a lack of support from the hierarchy.

But O’Neill is adamant that is not the case.
“Trust me on this one, there is not a division,” he added.
“I’m trying to see what we can get.
“Some players we thought were set up as things we could do, haven’t for one reason or another materialised.
“If you have a set of players that you think this is your A list and B list.
“I’m not so sure that you want to be going down to an F list.
“You know, which stands for a lot of things you know.
“So I don’t really want that.
“I can get some people in.
“There’s some things that you thought, ‘yeah that’s really good and looks great’ and 25 minutes later something changes like a price or somebody else comes in.
“Or, believe it or not, clubs with bigger assets in that sense. But Celtic is Celtic.
“I’m still very hopeful.”
