Leaked Manchester United kits for 2026/27 reveal iconic 1970s inspiration

Details for all three of Manchester United’s kits for the 2026/27 season have been leaked with an iconic inspiration behind the home shirt.

The Red Devils are consistently in the top five for most money generated from merchandising sales worldwide and there’s nothing that gets supporters’ blood rushing ahead of a new season quite like a kit launch.

In this case however, during early October we already have details surrounding United’s home, away and third shirts for 2026/27 thanks to Footy Headlines.

It remains to be seen whether Ruben Amorim will coach a team in the new designs, with Oliver Glasner shortening in the next Manchester United manager odds amid poor form at Old Trafford.

Manchester United Home Kit 2026/27 Leak

The 2026/27 home kit is set to pay homage to one of the most iconic eras in club history, the 1970s. From 1975 to 1980, United shirts were made by Admiral.

During that period, United had four different home shirts but all of them featured a similar design – famous red base, a thick white v-neck collar with red stripes and white stripes on cuffed sleeves.

Admiral produced some of the best-loved United shirts of all-time and a key design element of the 2026/27 home shirt will be the striped collar and sleeve cuffs.

The retro details will no doubt go down as a major hit among the fanbase and it won’t be the first time Adidas have tapped into history, with the 2025/26 third shirt and 2021/22 away shirt for example being heavily inspired by previous beloved strips.

Late 1970s football aesthetics was dominated by minimalist designs and we look set for a return to that style.

Manchester United Away Kit 2026/27 Leak

The only detail we have so far for United’s 2026/27 away kit is that the primary colour will be royal blue with red accents.

It sounds strikingly similar to the away shirt from the 2016/17 season, made famous by United’s triumph in the Europa League final over Ajax in Stockholm, Sweden.

United have a deep history with blue shirts and some of their most iconic change kits have been this colour, the most popular being the 2008-09 third that was worn in the Champions League semi-final away leg at Arsenal.

Blue away shirts are recently common too as Adidas used a “night indigo” tone during the 2024/25 season which was a popular edition with supporters.

The new shade is going to be lighter than that though, taking inspiration from the vivid blue used throughout the late 1980s.

It’s likely that we’ll see another deep v-neck collar in this one.

Manchester United Third Kit 2026/27 Leak

The colours for United’s third kit next season will be mainly off-white, as well as dark green and maroon. Supporters will already be familiar with that palette from the 2023-24 away shirt however this design is believed to be completely different.

In each of United’s last two third shirts, Adidas have used the retro trefoil logo but the modern performance symbol is set to be used here.

Looking at the colours it’s hard to imagine this will be a popular release but until we see official pictures we’re just guessing.
