UEFA is to send its Financial Director, Josef Koller, to Dublin next month to assess the ongoing financial issues within the FAI.
The move follows the appointment of UEFA’s Head of National Association Business Development, Noel Mooney, as General Manager for Football Services and Partnerships earlier this week.
Both Koller’s and Mooney’s roles are temporary though it is unclear how long Koller will remain in the advisory position in Abbotstown.
The association has been without a treasurer since Eddie Murray voluntarily resigned from the board last month alongside secretary Michael Cody.
Chief Executive of Sport Ireland, John Treacy, confirmed at a Joint Oireachtas Committee meeting in April that Sport Ireland is to carry out a full audit of the FAI.
As well as that, the association is also under investigation The Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement for failing to keep proper books after they were reported to the Companies Registration Offices last month by Deloitte, the official auditor of the Football Association of Ireland.
The FAI confirmed last week that interim CEO Rea Walshe will take up the role of Chief Operating Officer where she will continue to lead the process of governance and reform.
