Seamus Coleman has revealed that he feels as good as he did before the horror injury he received against Wales in March 2017, ahead of the meeting of the two sides tonight in the UEFA Nations League.
Speaking in the latest video of #TheCallUp series, Coleman says, “I want to enjoy every moment I get to put on that green shirt now”.
Despite never doubting that he would wear the green shirt again, the Donegal native did admit that the incident caused him to realise how fragile the career can be.
“I feel every bit as good as I did before and I just want to enjoy every moment I put on that green shirt now”.
The 29-year old also spoke of the mental and physical challenges he face during the recovery, admitting that it wasn’t an easy road.
“Mentally, you’ve just got to put in the grind, you’ve got to put the work in”.
Following the disappointment of not qualifying for the World Cup, the focus is now on the European Championship in 2020 with Coleman claiming the players now expect to be at these tournaments and will do all that they can to make sure they qualify.
