Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has donated €5,000 to a GoFundMe page set up to raise funds for Irish man, Sean Cox who was assaulted prior to the club’s Champions League semi-final with Roma in April.
Cox sustained severe head injuries when he was attacked by ‘Roma Ultras’ outside Anfield and spent months in hospital before being moved to National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire.
Italian, Filippo Lombardi was jailed for three years last week for violent conduct but was found not guilty of causing grievous bodily harm to the Meath native.
The GoFundMe page was established after Cox’ wife, Martina, who will appear on the Late Late Show tonight, gave an in-depth interview to the Irish Independent.
It has raised almost €61,000 of it’s €2 million aim and the paper are reporting that a Liverpool spokesperson has confirmed that the €5,000 donation made earlier today, did come from Klopp.
Classy touch from Jurgen Klopp who also visited Sean in hospital during the summer.

A further anonymous donation of €5,000 has since been made.
The club have been very supportive of the long-time fan since the incident and the Liverpool fan group, ‘the Spirit of Shankly’, will also hold a bucket collection before the club’s home game against Cardiff on Sunday.
Fundraisers are also happening closer to home with ‘The Support Sean Cox Fund’ holding a Fun Run in his home town of Dunboyne.
