Republic of Ireland underage star, Gavin Bazunu, is unlikely to feature for Shamrock Rovers this season as he prepares to move to Manchester City in the coming weeks, according to reports.
The Premier League champions signed the 16-year-old in October for a fee in the region of €500,000 but was to remain with the League of Ireland club until he had finished his Leaving Certificate exams.
According to a report in the Irish Mirror, however, City are now insisting that the goalkeeper move over to England as soon as possible, meaning Rovers will not have the use of him for the beginning of the LOI season, as initially thought.
It is believed that Bazunu will continue to make regular trips back to Dublin to continue his studies.
The Ireland under-17 star caught the eye of the Premier League side following a number of impressive performances for Rovers in both the domestic competitions and the Europa League.
It was also rumoured that Tottenham were interested in signing the youngster but City snapped him up first.
The club sent representatives to his school, Ashfield College, to make plans for him to continue his studies as that is a major desire for both the player and his family.
It is likely that he will join City’s development structures in the following weeks.
