Manchester United have been given fresh hope in their pursuit of a fourth summer signing after Leander Dendoncker’s agent told the press the midfielder wants to leave Anderlecht.
Dendoncker impressed against Manchester United in last season’s Europa League ties – scoring the equaliser with a powerful header in the first leg against the Old Trafford club.

It is believed Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the Belgian, and at 22 years old now would be the perfect time for him to join Manchester United as he could grow and further develop under the guidance of the Portuguese.
One would question why United would swoop for Dendoncker after signing Nemanja Matic in a £40 million deal from Chelsea just last week – but with the Red Devils competing in the Champions League, domestic cups and the Premier League, Dendoncker could add some depth to midfield whilst also providing healthy competition to those already at the club.
His agent Christophe Henrotay told Footmercato.net (via Bleacher Report) that his client wishes to leave Anderlecht in pursuit of a new club:
“Anderlecht want to keep him but the kid wants a new challenge. We’ll see if we can find an agreement with the club, but that seems difficult.”
Dendoncker has also been linked with a move to PSG. Anderlecht have already lost a star midfielder this summer with the departure of Youri Tielemans to Monaco and with Henrotay admitting that it will be tough to persuade the club to sell, one would imagine that the defensive midfielder will go for a pretty penny or two.
With time on his side and plenty of ability, few could blame Anderlecht for not wanting to sell. It will be tough to agree a fee, but one thing is for certain: Dendoncker wants to leave, and Manchester United will be monitoring the situation closely.
