Football Fans Hammer Into PSG After Champions League Exit

Another Champions League season has ended in the same old story for Paris Saint-Germain.

The French giants have been dumped out at the last 16 stage for the second consecutive campaign – after going down 5-2 on aggregate to Real Madrid, having been defeated both home and away.

Given the acquisition of big money signings such as Neymar and Kylian Mbappe during the summer, many expected the Parisians to finally mount a serious challenge for the biggest honour in European club football.

However, Unai Emery’s side looked lethargic on an evening where they desperately needed a victory – with Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro burying their hopes for another season, meaning that the French club have still failed to make it past the quarter-final stage of the competition despite a huge amount of investment in recent seasons.

Of course, football fans across the world were keen to jump onto Twitter and remind the Paris club that money simply cannot buy success, whilst also complaining that the absent Neymar is head and shoulders above his teammates’ level.

While PSG are the butt of everyone’s jokes for another year, the Real Madrid train keeps ploughing forward – and the reigning champions will take some stopping on their way to a possibly unprecedented three-in-a-row.
