Playing in the Europa League vs Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday evening, Nicklas Bendtner had a moment to forget as he played an exquisite through ball… to the opposition.
Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has received a lot of abuse from fans over the course of his career having made countless comments which somewhat overestimate his own abilities.
‘Whether it’s tennis, badminton, football, whatever. I just believe I can go out there and do it and most of time, I can.’
Since leaving Arsenal in 2014, the Danish forward scored 3 goals in 31 appearances with VfL Wolfsburg and 2 goals in 15 appearances with Nottingham Forrest.
‘I want to be top scorer in the premier league, top scorer at the World Cup and, within five years, I want to be among the best strikers in the world. Trust me, it will happen.’
Although the 29-year-old has been in reasonably good form of late scoring 14 goals in 24 appearances for Norwegian side, Rosenborg, he certainly had a moment to forget on Thursday evening.
Picking up the ball on the wing, the forward bizarrely attempted a back pass with his first touch which looped behind his own defence and offered the opposing striker a one on one opportunity on goal.
