Having made the decision to move from Arsenal to Liverpool over the course of the summer, things really couldn’t have started much worse for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this season.
Having been a consistent starter with Arsenal in the opening games of the season, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has seemingly moved to Liverpool for less wages in order to be a bit-part player.
However, after a string of disappointing performances, things finally took a turn in the right direction for the 24-year-old on Tuesday evening as Liverpool ran riot against Maribor.
The Reds scored a total of seven on the night with Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firminho and Mohamad Salah all getting on the score sheet. However, none of those will mean as much to the individuals in question when compared to the Ox’s 86th-minute effort.
Picking up the ball after a neat through-ball from Daniel Sturridge, Oxlade-Chamberlain burst through the Maribor defence with one touch before sliding the ball past the oncoming keeper.
Here’s hoping the finish will give the England international the confidence boost needed to reboot his faltering season.
