The Times Drop Bombshell Regarding Chelsea Squad’s Relationship With Antonio Conte

After claiming the Premier League title last May, it looks like history may well be set to repeat itself as The Times have dropped an incredible story regarding the Chelsea squad’s relationship with Antonio Conte.

After comfortably claiming the Premier League title under Jose Mourinho’s guidance in 2015, fans around the world looked on in bemused confusion the following season as Chelsea seemingly crumbled from the inside.

No one has ever really acknowledged that the squad turned on their manager during the season that saw Mourinho sacked over the Christmas period. However, it’s hard to imagine that anything else could have happened given the drastic dip in performance levels when compared to the season that had ended just months before.

The Blues also strolled to the Premier League title last May under Antonio Conte’s guidance and, if the back page spread in The Times is anything to go by this morning, then it looks like history may well be set to repeat itself.

Although we are now just eight gameweeks into the new Premier League season, Chelsea already find themselves 9 points behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and, according to The Times, the players are already blaming the training regime of their manager.

According to Matt Hughes, ‘Chelsea players are unhappy with the intensity of Antonio Conte’s training schedule and have concerns that the high workload is hampering their title defence and exacerbating the club’s injury problems.’

The piece goes on to make several other extraordinary claims while also stating that the training regime that the players are taking issue with is virtually identical to the title-winning preparation methods that the Italian deployed last season.

Conte is due to speak to the press on Friday ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Watford this weekend.
