“Get him a new contract.”
Former Manchester United midfielder Lee Sharpe has urged the Red Devils to offer Paul Pogba a new contract in the coming months.
Sharpe admitted to being an admirer of the Frenchman and claimed that Pogba is a “class above” most Premier League footballers.
Pogba joined Man United from Juventus for a then world-record sum of £89m. The midfielder, however, has struggled to justify the transfer fee that the Red Devils paid for him.
While he has demonstrated flashes of his brilliance and goalscoring ability on certain occasions, Pogba has been criticised for his lack of consistency and his reluctance to help out in defence.
Since his arrival in 2016, Pogba has scored 37 goals and has created 40 assists in 199 appearances for Man United.
During the current 2020-21 season, the 2018 World Cup winner has been involved in 12 goals across all competitions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.
Pogba’s current contract with the club expires in 2022 and the 28-year-old’s future at Old Trafford has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months.
The France international has been linked with a move away from Man United in the summer with Real Madrid and Juventus reportedly interested in signing him.
"Maybe Ole wouldn't pick them, but it's not like he puts them on the side like they don't exist anymore. That's the difference between Mourinho and Ole."

Sharpe on Pogba.
“If Paul Pogba’s heart is at Manchester United, I’d be trying my best to get him a new contract before the end of the summer,” Sharpe said.
“I’m a bit of a Paul Pogba fan if I’m honest. I love him, (I) love watching him. I think he’s a class above most players in the Premier League when he’s on his game.”
Sharpe also explained that despite Pogba’s lacklustre defensive output, the midfielder possesses a special ability to get into threatening positions to both create and score goals for his team.
