Kylian Mbappe reveals Liverpool talks.

Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he spoke to Liverpool about a move to Anfield, as his mother is a fan of the Merseyside club.

Despite seemingly being on the verge of a move to Real Madrid, Mbappe confirmed last week that he will be staying with Paris Saint-Germain after signing an extension until 2025.

Kylian Mbappe: “Liverpool is my mum’s favourite club.”

While Madrid are said to be fuming at the decision, their Champions League Final opponents can also be disappointed after the French forward revealed that he had talks with Liverpool.

“We talked a little bit, but not too much,” Mbappe said in an interview with the Daily Telegraph. “I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her.

“It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club. Of course, it was between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the end.”

The best on the planet.

Mbappe was much-coveted after bursting onto the European scene as a teenager with Monaco during the 2016/17 season, and ended up signing for PSG in the summer of 2017, initially on loan, before returning to his home city on a permanent basis.

Since then, he has established himself as one of the most talented and most marketable players in the world, and has arguably taken the crown as the best footballer on the planet, as the era of Lionel Messi v Cristiano Ronaldo moves into decline.

Champions League ambition.

As Mbappe competes in a French league that many would say isn’t the best standard, it was thought that the 23-year-old would take the next step in his career by moving to the Spanish capital.

However, PSG tempted him to stay by making him the world’s highest-paid player, with Mbappe set to take home a reported wage of £1m a week, on top of a £100m signing-on fee.

Having won eight of the last 10 French top flight titles, the next ambition for mega-rich PSG is to win a first-ever Champions League trophy, and if they manage to achieve this, then Mbappe’s decision will be somewhat justified.
