Carlo Ancelotti breaks silence on Kylian Mbappe’s Real Madrid snub

Carlo Ancelotti Mbappe

Carlo Ancelotti didn’t want to say much on Kylian Mbappe after he opted to stay at PSG.

While Kylian Mbappe decided to stay at PSG after being presented a contract that few could refuse, Carlo Ancelotti decided that it wasn’t his business to speak on any further.

“We haven’t talked about players who don’t form part of this club,” said Ancelotti

“We respect the player, his decision and we’ve got to work hard because we’ve got something big coming up which is a final.”

Kylian Mbappe’s future.

Ancelotti’s silence on Mbappe may not last forever, however, as Mbappe made sure not to burn bridges with the Spanish giants.

“You never know what can happen in the future,” said Mbappe, hinting that there’s still time for him to see out his current contract and secure a Madrid move afterwards.

“I give up thinking about the future, I only think about the present and the present is, I signed a new contract for three years more at Paris St-Germain.

“First of all I spoke to the president of Real Madrid because I have a lot of respect for him and the club. I think it was important to say it personally that I wasn’t going to go.

“To be a great player [you have] to be honest and everything was great and good because we have a good relationship.”

It wasn’t only Real Madrid that were annoyed about the situation as La Liga revealed that they would be filing a complaint about PSG’s “non-compliance with UEFA’s financial fair play.”

“It is scandalous a club like PSG, which last season reported losses of more than €220m, after accumulating losses of more than €700m in prior seasons (while reporting sponsorship income at a doubtful valuation) with a cost of sports staff around €650m for this 2021-22 season, can face an agreement of these characteristics while those clubs that could accept the arrival of the player without seeing their wage bill compromised, are left without being able to sign him.!
