Frank Lampard lauds Seamus Coleman as one of the best people he’s ever met

Frank Lampard was full of praise for Seamus Coleman after Everton ensured their Premier League survival.

While it certainly hasn’t been a great season for Everton, there was pure elation at Goodison Park on Thursday night as the Merseysiders staged a dramatic comeback against Crystal Palace to win 3-2.

The victory saw Everton move four points clear of the relegation zone with just one round of games remaining, as the Toffees avoided their first relegation from the top flight of English football since 1951.

‘One of the best people I have ever met.’

Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin came up with the goals for Everton as they came back from 2-0 down, although manager Frank Lampard singled out Seamus Coleman for praise in the changing room after the match.

“This fella is, to say in front of everyone, one of the best people I have ever met as a man and as a player,” Lampard said.

The Donegal man has been with Everton since 2009, and while this season won’t rank among his favourites at Goodison Park, the club captain’s efforts have clearly been recognised in a difficult few months.

Dele Alli has also heaped praise on Seamus Coleman.

Lampard wasn’t the only one in the Everton camp to pay tribute to Coleman, as Dele Alli shared how much he respects the Irishman with his Instagram followers.

Alli posted a picture of the two in the changing room with the message, “Living legend! What a man. Showed me what it was to be an Evertonian.”

The England international has only been with Everton since January this year, although Coleman has clearly had a positive effect on Alli amid the nerve wracking end to the season.
