Sky Sports Have Released A Huge Update In Manchester United’s Pursuit Of Nemanja Matic

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and Nemanja Matic of Chelsea

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Nemanja Matic throughout the summer but any hopes of a deal were thought to have faded.

When the Reds signed Romelu Lukaku from under Chelsea’s noses, most thought the London club would refuse to do any dealings with their rivals. However, Sky Sports are this afternoon reporting that a deal to bring the Serbian north is now close.

One of Sky’s chief news reporters has even offered a timeline for the deal.

The imminent arrival of Matic may herald the departure of Marouane Fellaini following reports in Turkey last night that the Belgian is a target for Galatasaray.

United continue their pre-season tour against Norweigan side Valerenga this evening. They then face Sampdoria in Dublin on Wednesday. As Solhekol mentions, Jose Mourinho’s charges will compete for the first European trophy of the new season against Real Madrid on August 8th. It would be a massive boost if Matic was made available to them for that game in Skopje.

The Special One has, of course, worked with the midfielder before having signed him for Chelsea in 2014. The 28-year-old played a pivotal part in the Blues’ title-winning campaign in Mourinho’s second season at Stamford Bridge.
