Mauricio Pochettino has signed a new five-year contract with the Club, which will run until 2023. Tottenham Hotspur’s official website broke the news that the Argentine has renewed his contract this afternoon.
The recent conveyor belt of managerial departments in the Premier League has been cause for concern, so the renewal of Pochettino’s contract at Spurs can only be a positive for football in England. The Spurs manager has managed 152 games for the club in the Premier League, the most out of any Spurs manager in the competition. This five-year deal has shown the ambition of both Spurs and Pochettino to continue to grow on the success the club has built around him.

Spurs are set to step away from their adopted Wembley Stadium and move into their new world-class stadium for the coming season. Speculation had arisen in recent weeks that Pochettino was wanted by Chelsea and Real Madrid, but the Argentine is looking to continue build on the great work the club has done over the past few years.
“This is one of the factors that makes this one of the most exciting jobs in world football and we are already making plans to ensure we continue to build on the great work that everyone has contributed to over the past four years.”
“Daniel and I have spoken at length about our aspirations for this football club. We both share the same philosophies to achieve long-term, sustainable success.”
“This is a special club – we always strive to be creative in the way we work both on and off the pitch and will continue to stick to our principles in order to achieve the success this Club deserves.”
Twitter and Spurs fans alike have reacted with delight to the news that Pochettino is staying put:
So massive for @SpursOfficial to have another 5 years of Pochettino & Co in whatever new projects and journeys they want to take us on. The best thing that has happened to our club in a very very long time #COYS
