Former Ireland international, Wes Hoolahan is close to signing for Championship side West Bromwich Albion on a short-term contract.
The Dublin native impressed manager, Darren Moore when he trained for three days with the Baggies during the international break.
It has also emerged that 36-year-old centre-back Russell Martin was also taken on trial by West Brom, however, he is not expected to be offered a contract by the Midlands club.
The Irishman left Norwich last season after ten years at Carrow Road.
Hoolahan was a late bloomer on the international stage. After being rarely used under Trappatoni, the playmaker flourished under the management of Martin O’Neill, before retiring from international duty earlier this year.

West Brom are looking to strengthen their squad after selling winger Nacer Chadli to Monaco for £10 million in the summer.
Hoolahan has years of Championship and Premier League experience with Norwich and has played more than 200 games in the second tier.
